Frequently Asked Questions

Prevention is always preferred to correction when your skin is involved. During puberty hormonal skin changes can cause trouble skin and poor care habits. The introduction of proper skincare and routine at that time may lay the foundation for good skincare habits for life. During those years, learning how to clean and treat acne skin properly may help minimize scarring and foster self confidence. Using a daily cream with SPF protection can also help minimize potential future skin cancers caused by sun exposure. By the early 20's you should be following a regular skincare routine to prevent early signs of aging and protection from environmental stressors that remove oxygen and hydration from your skin
Both Serums and Creams are necessary to nourish and protect your skin. Serums have a more liquid feel and they can absorb deeper into the layers of skin to repair damage. Creams are thicker and help to make a barrier to hold moisture in and keep environmental stressors out. Using both together creates the best environment for skin repair and protection.
Everyone has skin but what we need to protect and nourish it may differ from others. Skincare isn't just an out of box solution, it's just as individual as you are. The skin around the eyes is thinner than any other part of your body. Signs of stress, sleep, hydration and aging is often seen around the eyes first. Prior to deciding if an Eye Contour is right for you, consider your lifestyle and hereditary links. Do you have family members with dark or puffy skin under their eyes? Do you get regular sleep every night and feel refreshed when you wake? Do you have stress from work, life or your relationships or environmental stress from pollution or excess sun exposure? If you answer yes to any of these, it may be wise to begin protecting the skin around your eyes now before it becomes a problem later.
Dry skin often feels dry to the touch and may flake, itch or even crack. When your skin is dry, there isn't enough oil to lubricate itself and that causes it to dry out. Dehydrated skin can feel tight, sometimes almost shiny with scale-like ridges in your skin. With dry skin applying moisturizer will make it feel better and sooth any discomfort. Dehydrated skin may feel a bit better with a moisturizer, but it will still be dull, shiny and the ridges may still be there. To treat dehydrated skin, the first action is to increase your fluid intake if that's safe for you to do depending on your medical history. Second, add hydrating skin products with Hyaluronic Acid like the ones in our Hydracure Collection.
Yes. Exfoliation is a basic, yet, very fundamental, element of any skincare routine. For very sensitive skins, the Excel Therapy O2 Silky Scrub, used once or twice per week, is an excellent choice. It is enzymatic and works to dissolve and remove dead skin cells. Those with mildly sensitive skin may choose to blend a small amount of the Options Exfoliating Scrub with their Cleanser to provide a milder “mechanical” exfoliation, once per week.
Exfoliation is key to facilitating better product penetration and letting your skin “breathe”. Your serums/creams will always give better results when they are not being blocked by a layer of "dead" skin cells.
Yes. Exfoliation is the "doorway" to cleaner, healthier skin. "Mechanical"-type scrubs can stimulate increased oil production as a result of their abrasive properties. A gentle, enzyme-based exfoliant such as the Excel Therapy O2 Silky Scrub will remove dead skin cells and unclog pores without the physical "scrubbing" action of regular exfoliators.
"Tight" skin is dehydrated skin. It needs moisture (water, not oil). The Hydracure Hyaluronic Force is a colourless, fragrance-free Serum which provides deep hydration in a pure form for all skin types. Perfect for oily, impure, and even the most irritated skins.
